1988 Golf CL - OAP OEM - New Wheels!

Here is the Golf when I got it... (Paid 150 pounds)

After clearing out the crazy selection of crap in the boot, I was left with this..

Image

After cleaning all that out, I had a nice neat boot, which was soon to be full of crap when the car was stripped..

Image

I took off the crap seat covers (ewwwwwww) and fitted my uber budget head unit in...

Image

This is what my car looked like a few months ago...

Then I played with some pinstripe tape..

Image
Image

Then I played with 16v half smoked hellas..

Before...
Image

After...
Image

Then I played with my new seats and carpet

Image

Then my brother and I played with a jetta front end, a hammer, an angle grinder, some filler, some wet and dry, and some primer.

Image

Image

Then for my birthday my brother offered to help spray my car on my driveway...

Day 1 - (Short day stripping)

Starting at lunchtime

Day 2 - Prepping and Primer

Morning

Sanding up at lunch time

Too much fun meant not much pictures

Second coat

Tucked up for the week

Day 3 -

Day 4 -

Image

Image

I need the quarter arch and wing trim for the sides, and i need to attach the bumper, but looking a lot nicer.

Still a lot of stuff to go.

Image

Image

Then my brother and I started on brown detailing! (Still not finished):

Image

The bumper iron is still bent, so bumper isn't on properly...

Image

I think it clashes with the grill, so thats on the 'To paint:' list.

Ran out of plastic primer half way through my rear bumper... but got some more!

Image

Basic 'shop of front end ideas. Real life always looks better than photoshops though :D

Thanks for reading :)

I wanted it to be a break from the usual modified Golfs you see these days, I am a bit eccentric anyway ;)

All the blues I found weren't what I wanted, and to be honest I've had my heart set on Beige since about March and only changed it to Satin Blue like last month.

Yeah not many people seem to check my thread on RR.. My car does get overlooked.

Thanks for the replies :)

So much stuff on R-R thats sometimes anything that isn't completely radical or ultra rare gets over looked. Just the way of life when a forum grows so huge.

It's not that I just haven't looked on your thread, it did come across that way lol It's just that I haven't logged into RR for a while because it's just so busy all the time I hardly get time to read threads properly.

What rims are you going to go for? 8)

I've always fancied seeing a set of those style steelies heavily banded. Perhaps in this case with some sort of Brown and Cream colour coding.

Once my new set of wheels are on the car, I am going to restore the steels, got a few ideas up my sleeves.
