Zymol Car Wash Shampoo

Autoglym Super Resin Polish

Meguiars Gold Class Wax

Those products should get you decent results on a budget (Super Resin Polish is fairly good at masking swirl marks), then I'd recommend the following:

Applicator Pads

Buffing off towels

I know the buffing cloths seem really expensive, but you really do get what you pay for!

Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo - £15 (big bottle)

Autoglym Super Resing Polish £10

Collinte 476 Auto wax - £15

Microfibre cloths

Applicator pads

That should be pretty much the basic kit you'll want to get your car looking a lot better. The polish will give a great surface for applying the wax.
That Collinite will last 6 months per application, far longer than the Gold Class wax which from my experience only beads up for about 2-3 weeks.

If you want to go a little further you could try the following -

Clay kit - Meguiars smooth clay kit £20

Tire shine - Meguiars High Gloss Tyre Shine £7

Black trim - Autoglym vinyl rubber care £8

I tend to buy more than one brand of each type of product and see which I prefer. But the ones I've mentioned above should see your car looking spot on. :)

Mate, I wouldn't bother with the Meguiars wax.

I've tried the Gold Class liquid wax and it leaves a really nice finish but it just doesn't last like a good paste wax will.
The Meguiars #26 or #16 wax is what you'd want but you won't it for sale in Halfords or any of the usual shops.

Rather than the Meguiars waxes, since you've got the Autoglym Super Resin, why not get the Extra Gloss Protection? :)
Its a sealant rather than a wax but is good stuff and good protection.

meguiars all the way, never got on with autoglym! use the gold class shampoo, then if im going to a show or meet dry with meguiar water magnet then use step 2 and 3 in there 3 stage system which is a polish and carnabua wax, no need for stage 1 as my paint job is only a year old. then one at the show all it needs is a quick detail with sum speed detalier and spray on sum tyre shine and jobs a guden lol

If you're after a drying towel then try a Sonus Der Wunder instead of the Water Magnet.

I have both but the Sonus picks up a lot more water and is bigger than the Meguiars one.

The Meguiars three stage kit is pretty good but the Stage 3 wax doesn't last that long, the stage 2 polish on the other hand is really good.

Shampoo wise, either of the ones you suggested will do you just fine. :)

Polish wise, the AG Super Resin is great, inexpensive and very good.

Wax is down to personal preference. I recommend Collinite to everyone because its so long lasting and again not too pricey.

You could pick and choose waxes all day as there are so many. The only thing I wouldn't bother with is the Meguiars liquid waxes. They leave a great looking finish but they wear off after a short period of time.

A good paste wax is best mate.

You could consider a sealant instead. A sealant is basically a synthetic wax. Autoglym do Extra Gloss Protection which is designed to go on top of the Super Resing polish. Does the same job as wax to be honest and easily picked up in Halfords.

Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo
Autoglym Super Resing Polish
Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection
OR if you want to mail order

Thats the trouble, you get a bit handy with the old detailing gear and everyone wants you to do theirs haha.

As for the Collinite, its great stuff and really does last ages. You can tell how long it lasts by the beading and with Collinite it lasts months and months. :)

Only thing with it is that it is that you'd have to mail order it.

does that mean you dont have to wash it as much if the wax keeps beading?

Well it does make it a lot easier to wash and in theory if you've got a good layer of wax between your paint and the dirt!

The idea of wax is that its designed to form a layer on the paint. It also makes the pain 'hydrophobic' so it basically repels the water. Hence why you get beads.

They are a good indication as to whether your wax is working.

If rain looks like this on your paint then you're all good -

Good plan on the Collinite mate, its great for it you don't have loads of time to be waxing your car twice a month! :)

As for the foam applicators and mf cloths, they look perfect mate.

I wouldn't trust that stuff you pictured, you'd probably get away with buffing off with it but you do want spong applicators for applying.

Oh yeah and for the glass, Rain-X is the stuff you want. I use either the Rain-X rain repellent or the Rain-X Glass cleaner, cleans and helps the water repel. 8)
