Bought the car and started doing little bits, used it as an everyday car
Then since March 2008 I decided to go euro..... but with a twist
The phirm have been knocking out some gorgeous dubs with the backseats missing and a roll cage
Love this look so I took it to the extreme by stripping the whole lot, removal of sound deadening......... EVERYTHING lol
I wanted the roll cage to stand out so decided to go with an orange theme inside
Bought a set of cobra monaco s in black with orange embroidery and orange harnesses.
Then orange dash bits
Then orange roll cage, rear strut brace and front strut brace and engine bits
Then fitted FK coilovers
Then bought a set of pirelli p-slots, refurbished them diamond cut face gloss black inserts and wrapped them in toyo proxes t1-r 195/45/14.
On the car
And the car has stayed in my garge for the last 3 months
Then decided it didnt look right
So bought some new wheels off of wheel-whores.com
OZ turbo's 15x7j
Split them down ready to be painted
First job was to slit the head of 120 bolts using a slitting disc on a grinderette without damaging the wheel or burning my hand.
Ah too late!!! lol
Then using a hammer and chisel/punch I had to take the heads off
Then punch out the bolts
Then using a blade had to cut the old glue out, then using a heat gun, warm up the glue and gently tap the lip off using a dead blow hammer.
all four wheels split down
THE NEW 3" LIPS TO MAKE THEM 9j!!!!!!
Test fit the lips
Comparing the old lips to the new ones
Old lips
New lips
My new Toyo proxes T1-R. going to stretch 195/45/15 over a 9j
Back from the refurbishers
Built them back together
First thing....... the powdercoat meant the centre caps would not fit so i took a dremel to them
Then using sikaflex to seal the lip to the wheel and torqing up the bolts
Heres the finished result
STRETCHHHHH!!!
Then into Xquisite for full re-spray and alot of smoothing
All the panels smoothed and a test fit of the wheels
The whole car
Smooth bonnet
Smooth wings
Smooth doors, keeping the handles
Smooth boot
Smooth rear washer jet
Smooth aerial
Smooth recess on top and bottom of spoiler
The roof painted in aston martin anthracite to match the wheels, aswell as the scuttle panel and the headlight inners being painted the same colour
Boot in primer
Car
Paint on the roof, top of boot and spoiler and show plate. Bottom of spoiler will be the same colour as the rest of the car
And as the car stands as of last night
Still needs the front door glass to go in, spoiler, handles, rear window strips, bumpers roof rails, and sideskirts......... then the wheels!!!
Few little probs such as where the shit bodyshop before smoothed my rear bumper, the filler didnt set properly and they painted on top of wet filler.
I have got brand new glass all round, so went to xquisite last nght with a couple of mates that work for autoglass to fit it, whilst putting the screen back in the sucker fell off and the screen landed on the bonnet so have got to get the bonnet re-sprayed. nothing to serious
Will hopefully be picking the car up on wednesday
Then starting the interior next weekend.
Flat door cards made from ply trimmed in alcantara as well as the boot panel, and going to smooth the lumps, lines and pockets in the dash and get it trimmed in alcantara.
And a little boot build in the spare wheel hole, with the wires and amp all hidden away.
Should all be completed by the end of the month hopefully
Thanks for reading
