Im a begginer at photography and ive got the basics sorted out with a nice portfolio sorted out but now i want to improve my photo's before upgrading camera....

For the photographers on the site i have been given a SOLIGOR 30DA flash gun to use with my Olympus E-300 DSLR

I just want to use the camera on a tripod with a long shutter speed so i can do what Graham Curry taught me and go round the car with the flash gun for light....

Now i dont have a clue how to use it so any help would be greatly appreciated.

naaa keep it dude, any free thing is goood. from what i can see on it, it will have the same functions as a digital one.
im guessing from the name its going to have about a 30m rating which is pretty goood.

im sure there are loads of sites with it on.
best thing you can do, keep this one aswel as buying another one (if you want to do that) that way if one breaks youve got a back up!

Spent 30 minutes fiddlin with it today and practising in a dark room....and my god.....does it work

all you need to do is set the camera to a long shutter speed, put the flash power down a bit ( so that you can get more continuous bursts and then walk around the car and press the test button, simple.

auto WB is general good enough. minor adjustments can be made on photoshop so i dont think it matters that much

auto wb though with street lights (the orange ones) make it look like shit lol
if you can go to somewere where there isnt much of them

Trial and error, teach yourself

The one i use at work links the settings from the body anyway, and it doesnt look much different from that!
