Its definitely a detailing geek thing to do but I find it interesting haha.

Also its a reason to be smug when you walk past all the others cars on your street and yours is the only one beading like a good 'un! haha

Nice one mate, both the Meguiars ones are good.

I used the microfibre one on mine as you can machine wash it. The lambs wool one doesn't hold up well to machine washing!

What does everyone suggest to use instead of a shammy leather?

Ive always used one tbh, my cars paint wasnt in the best of condition when i first got it, swirls and random little scratches everywhere, most only noticeable after a really good wash and wax though

Its not so much the sponge thats the proble, its the method in which you use it!

Marko - Sounds like you guys probably do a good wash, grit guards and no doubt pre rinse with a jet wash.

The average person won't have a grit guard and probably won't bother pre-rinsing it therefore a sponge is a hazard.

Haha I'd be surprised if anyone's cars are as they should be if you used a paint depth gauge!! lol

Then again, only worth doing if you're machine polishing and concerned about the paint depth before hand.

I've not got the cash together yet to by a machine polisher, let alone the balls to attack my car with one haha.
