Thing is detailing is not about necessarily how clean the car is.

Yes it is cleaning the car but when you detail a car you correct the imperfections in the paint.

Most cars have swirls, doesn't mean they should have them and you can rectify them.
Swirl marks don't mean your car is going to rust and die but doesn't mean you have to look at a spider web of swirls when the sun comes out.

NEEDING to do something and WANTING to do it are two different things. We don't have to modify our cars as they work just as well if we don't.
But they make us happy when we do, the same applies to detailing a car.

Its just the sense of satisfaction you got from it and what brings it. I'd never have a pop for someone washing their car how they want or not even washing it at all, as long as they're happy.

Just can't see any harm in making your car look as good as possible and protecting it as much as possible.

Either you're into it or your not.

The better protected the paint is, the easier it is to keep clean, because the dirt doesn't stick

Very true, if you've got a layer of wax between your bodywork and all the sh!t thats on the road then all good!!

All very well having a garage but doesn't protect the car from the salt on the road, tree sap etc.

I'd rather have a dirty car that gets a proper wash and protection once a month, than take my car to the local Polish car wash weekly and let them scratch the hell out of my paint. lol

i'm with fred on this one

sponges and dirty cars do not mix, and it is a fact that it will lead to alot more swirls/marring than a decent wash mitt

not sure how anyone can argue that tbh, some car colours show this up more, such as black, where as lighter colours like white dont.

i have cleaning OCD, i polish and wax the underside of my car, arches, backs of alloys because i take pride in my car
whats the point spending thousands on a car/paint work to let it being dirty spoil it?

Exactly, Hence why i spent 2 days prepping the car for winter to protect it against our crappy english weather.

Its got 3 layers of Zaino Z2 then 3 layers of collonite, The car is black & brown atm but i will place money on the fact when i clean it this week 90% of the dirt will come off with just the Karcher pre rinse ;)

I will post pics when i do!

I had a guy come to do defect correction on my golf, only to find that the whole rear end was only around 90 microns  front end was around 250!

But yeah, we spent a whole day on just the outside, foamed with autoglym shampoo, clayed, washed again to remove the last touch, rinsed & dried, 2 coats of Zymol Titanium and some autosol on the exhaust tips 8)

Just a thought mate but you may find that with those layers of Collinite on top of the wax it may actually be stripping the Zaino slightly by applying the Colly.

Was reading on DetailingWorld that the solvents in Collinite can actually start to remove previous layers of wax. :?

Zainos a sealant, I had stripped any remaining wax off the car by adding APC to my snow foam mixture, Plus i spent the day machine polishing with Menz IP & FF106 (which would strip off anything i had missed)

Collonite as far as im aware is fine on top of zaino

(im a member on DW too lol)

Aaah my apologies, I didn't realise it was a sealant, was assuming it was a wax.

A lot of people do take the mentality that the more layers of wax the better! lol

Its one of the best sealants on the market today, Plus you can do multiple layers with the ZFX kit, Every layer adds more gloss its amazing.... You need it in your life!

i must admit i do like a few layers of wax on mine for piece of mind, 3 is the limit though lol

I think I may need to invest, although I've always found that Collinite has done me well.

There's been talk about what actually goes into that stuff though and how much of a wax it actually is!! lol

How does the ZFX compaire to a layer of SRP followed by EGP?

well if you applied SRP to a test panel on your car, then 1 side EGP and the other Z2-Pro you would know the difference!

You can put colly on top of Z2 also ;)

Do what i did, prep the whole car and apply each wax to a different panel.
Then you can moniter looks, protection, beading, Endurance of each wax ;)

I did it with 15 waxes on my old calibra lol

You have a lot of time on ya hands hahaha.

Sadly in this weather its annoying as you really have to get the car prepped for winter and then sit it out with a decent wash when weather permits.

Unless of course you have somewhere you can detail it indoors.

Im lucky to have a double garage, We may be moving soon however as we breed cats and need more land - one place we looked at had 2 double garages & what they describe as a 'barn'

To you & me it would be a huge 60 x 50ft metal clad workshop with heating & electric!

only thing is its in Norfolk :(

Going back to Zaino though check the gloss on mine after 3 layers..

Ah yes but we was discussing sealants!
SN is an excellent wax however, and punches well above its weight.

I've been intrigued by the Supernatural, will eventually get round to trying it at some point.

Although I kind a like the beading from the Collinite, especially for £15 a tin -

Weird condensation beading as well -

I'm such a geek for them, in fact even my missus notices them now haha.

Was walking through London from work and keep an eye out in the rain to see if other cars bead or not.

Spotted a very nice, big Merc that had not long been waxed. Tall beads all over the car. If you look round though, most cars don't.
